Conscious Camels?

Ideologies separate us. Dreams and anguish bring us together.
-Eugene Lonesco

What the human race is faced with is the NEED to mobilize every man, woman, and child to a critical mass akin to what The United States accomplished during WWII on the home front to help win the war. The difference with Global Warming is that for many people there is no apparent anguish, no apparent or specific malicious idology, and therefore no apparent need or urgency to act. It comes down to Faith unlike any other, not religious faith, but faith in it's purest sense, faith in a sustainable future.

The point that ought to be addressed FIRST and foremost in order to achieve the critical mass of people we’ll need to force BIG decisions by big players in politics in time to have a lasting affect is this.

Despite all the information we are fed by the media about global warming, the majority of us are overwhelmed by it, overwhelmed by the responsibility of saving the planet and therefore AFRAID to act, so we pull back and do nothing.

We are all well aware of what could very likely happen to all of us if we don't act NOW . . . and that every moment that passes that we DON'T act could very likely mean catastrophic, irreversible changes in OUR future. It is very likely that a large majority of us are not taking action because we do not have the mental tools yet to deal with or cope with the reality of the problem we have all helped to create, and the solution we all need to be a part of.

Partially paraphrased and borrowed from the book, “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle*, the majority of us are unconsciously run by our mind. We still instinctually react to many aspects of life and continue to possess the same fight or flight mechanism of all other animals on the planet. We want to run away from the problem, hoping our decision, or rather indecision, doesn’t come back to haunt us.
If you look at the timeline of the planet and consider the amount of time the human mind has existed, our mind, the exceptional tool that makes us human, has just barely been conceived. It has not had enough time to evolve into a usefull tool.

According to Tolle, the next level of evolution for the mind is consciousness . . .
• The concept of observing our mind (observance of our thoughts as if they were not our own – and having the ability to laugh at them as we would the antics of a child)
• The mindset shift from having our dwelling place in Time (past and future) to having our dwelling place primarily in the one place out of time, the NOW, the present moment. This is mentioned in the book as “Satori” or “No Mind”
• Holding longer and longer sessions of “Satori” or “no mind” (holding a state of being void of past or future thought)
• Using our mind as a tool, as it was designed to be used, when we need it, then putting it back or turning it off, as we would a hammer or computer; not allowing IT to use US in the form of incessant mental noise.
• The fact that we are NOT our mind. That our mind is the infinitely creative (separate) tool, that we as humans happen to have (built-in) that sets us apart from all other life on the planet.
• We need to realize deeply that the present moment is all we ever have . . . that there is never a time when our life is not NOW, nor will there ever be.
• That resistance to the present moment, to life as it unfolds, is insanity; that nobody is “consciously” insane.
• We need to move to this next level of psycho-evolution as a matter of urgency before we can hope to cope on an individual level with a crisis of this Global scale.

What’s happening is that we’re getting dragged around so much by the incredible momentum of our thoughts (past and future) like a wild river (our unconscious mind in full control), that we completely miss what IS, the present moment (pure consciousness), in this case, the REAL step we can take right NOW towards preventing global warming.

The simple truth is, as was stated at the end of the 11th hour film, “The Earth has all the time in the world, and we don’t.”

Going along with the old saying “You can lead a camel to water, but you cannot make it drink” . . .
Like a billion thirsty Camels standing at Waters edge . . . we’re Afraid to drink, knowing that if we don't drink the water NOW, we will all likely perish before making it across the desert (to a sustainable future). We need to break the fear (the old mindset) that’s keeping us from drinking the water.

I propose we talk more about the evolution of the human mind to consciousness; about how to give the majority of us the tools of the mind the we will need in order to have the fortitude to cope with the overwhelming emotions and fear that comes along with knowing that we ARE responsible for and fully capable of "saving the world".

* I propose the teachings of Eckhart Tolle, specifically his book "The Power of Now" (currently rated 4.5 out of 5 stars on average from 746 reviewers on Amazon.com)

This book is the highest rated book on Amazon.com in its category. No other spiritual or religious text (neither of which accurately define THIS book), including the Bible, has come close to the universal truths and broad appeal that this book has to offer.

I propose the need for all of us to relinquish (through cross cultural immersion and education) all forms of resistance to our differences in race, culture, religion, and politics.

I propose we also begin to discuss these and all other methods currently available in regards to the mind-shift that will be necessary to get the camels to drink . . . and of course make them think/know it was their choice . . . because there are the tree huggers . . . and there is the rest of us . . . unfortunately it will be winning the minds and hearts of the rest of us that will be essential to bringing about the collective conscious change needed to STOP global warming and the slew of other crisis threatening the survival of our race.

As one of the experts in the film said, "as within, so without." We need to fix our collective inner pollution before we can hope to fix our current outer pollution.

I’d like to thank Nadia Conners for encouraging me to blog about this critical topic.

Conscious Pioneers

I believe conscious change is not inevitable, but very much needed in the world today, especially in regards to our very current issue of Global Warming and other environmental Crises. In the future, people will more and more be forced to change by circumstances beyond their control and without the conscious tools of mind, drug use will likely become a more prevalent problem than it already is, making it harder and harder for any of us to reach them.

We are conscious pioneers! We can all be very proud to have the knowledge of the Power of Now.

Let's try as often as we can to use the present moment to never miss the opportunity to give/share the gift of consciousness.

I suggest we use this thread to discuss ways to reach the unreachable . . . because not everyone likes to read or listen to "audio" that's not music. And they are usually the ones who need this info the most . .
